GTA 6 Leonida: six destinations, no official map
Rockstar Games has described six destinations in Leonida, published on May 6, 2025 alongside 70 4K screenshots. The studio has never released a map of the state, and has never given a single measurement of its size.
GTA6 LIFE

Leonida is the fictional state Grand Theft Auto VI takes place in, and Rockstar Games has named six destinations inside it: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park. All six went online on May 6, 2025, the day the second trailer dropped, on a page called Only in Leonida, with 70 in-game screenshots in 4K. Nothing has been added since.
Each destination has its own headline and its own paragraph on the official site. Here are the six, in Rockstar’s words.
| Destination | Official headline | What Rockstar writes |
|---|---|---|
| Vice City | Everything in Excess | “The glamour, hustle, and greed of America captured in a single city”, from the art deco hotels of Ocean Beach to the panaderías of Little Cuba and VC Port, “the cruise ship capital of the world” |
| Leonida Keys | Gateway to Paradise | “The dress code is casual, the bars are loaded”, a tropical archipelago sitting “right on the doorstep of some of the most beautiful and dangerous waters in all of America” |
| Grassrivers | Welcome to the Wetlands | “The untamable jewel of Leonida’s crown”, where the gators are the famous attraction but the mangroves hold “far deadlier predators and weirder discoveries” |
| Port Gellhorn | Live Hard | “Leonida’s forgotten coast”, its cheap motels and empty strip malls running on “malt liquor, painkillers, and truck stop energy drinks” |
| Ambrosia | Keeping Leonida Sweet | The Allied Crystal sugar refinery “provides the jobs, while the local biker gang provides almost everything else” |
| Mount Kalaga National Park | Wild, Wild Country | A national landmark “up against the state’s northern border”, with hunting, fishing and off-road trails, and backwoods where “hillbilly mystics and paranoid radicals” live |

Vice City is the metropolis of the state, and Rockstar names exactly four places inside it: Ocean Beach, Little Cuba, the Tisha-Wocka flea market and VC Port. Community lists add dozens more, and plenty of them write Little Havana where the official text writes Little Cuba. How many neighborhoods Vice City actually holds has never been stated.
The word county appears nowhere in Rockstar’s material. Five of them circulate anyway: Vice-Dale, Leonard, Ambrosia, Kelly and Mariana, every one read off road signs, police cars and sheriff badges in the trailers and screenshots, as GTA Intel laid out on June 6, 2026. Those are readings of images, not announcements. No official source has published a county list, or mentioned the large lake several of those lists drop in the middle of the state.
The Florida behind the names is press work too. Reporters have matched Vice City to Miami, Grassrivers to the Everglades, the Leonida Keys to the Florida Keys, Port Gellhorn to Panama City, Key Lento to Key Largo, and the Mount Kalaga canyon to Providence Canyon State Park in southwest Georgia. Rockstar has drawn none of those equivalences itself. What the studio did say, through VGC on August 27, 2026, is that its Miami field research put the team in front of “ex-criminals, law enforcement, club promoters, gun dealers and other notorious real-life people”, and that more than 50 real street artists painted murals used in the game.

On size, Rockstar publicly says only that the map is “very big”. The ratios repeated everywhere since August 27, 2026 all come from one sentence by Rob Nelson, co-studio head at Rockstar North, talking to the YouTuber TGG at a July 2026 preview session in Edinburgh: the map twice the size of GTA 5 and three times Red Dead Redemption 2, Vice City alone twice the size of Los Santos, and Vice City plus its suburbs eleven times Los Santos and its surroundings. That is a spoken comparison, not a measurement, and the arithmetic does not add up. No square mileage has ever been published by the studio.
The Extended Look of August 27, 2026 walked through all six destinations without once putting an overview map on screen. It did add three place names, catalogued by SVG on August 28, 2026: Bayside, a Vice City neighborhood Lucia says out loud at 12 minutes 32 seconds, the rooftop bar Effluvia at 9 minutes 50 seconds, and the headquarters of the fictional TV network Megamundo at 20 minutes 50 seconds. The Grassrivers wetlands arrive at 17 minutes 10 seconds, Jason at the wheel of a small boat.
No playable public transport has been announced. The only fast travel the press described after the July 2026 previews is a rideshare app called Ryde Me, and Jason and Lucia can hold a full conversation with the other passenger during the ride. The pause menu map itself drops the street plan of GTA 5 for satellite-style imagery, far more detailed than the old one.
