GTA 6 fake leaks: the five questions that expose a hoax

Fake GTA 6 casts and unlock times circulate as fact, while the real unlock time has shown on the PlayStation Store since October 23, 2026. Five questions sort a real leak from a fake, each tested against a hoax that already has a date on it.
: The collector's box sold since September 24, 2026 and the unlock time shown on the PlayStation Store since October 23 leave the list of sure fakes.
Five questions settle almost every fake circulating about GTA 6, and none needs a technical skill. The baseline: release on November 19, 2026, two editions at $79.99 and $99.99 plus a $399.99 collector's box sold since September 24, four places to buy named by Take-Two on June 24, 2026, and an unlock time shown on the PlayStation Store since October 23. Rockstar has named no actor and published no install size and no PC version.
Five questions settle almost every fake circulating about Grand Theft Auto VI, and none of them needs a technical skill.
The baseline they get held against is short. Release on November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, two editions, Standard at $79.99 and Ultimate at $99.99, the second digital only. Take-Two’s announcement of June 24, 2026 names four places to buy: PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Rockstar Games Store, and physical retailers. Since September 24, 2026, a third product sits beside them: The Goodtime State, Vice City Collection, a $399.99 collector’s box sold without the game. Rockstar has published no unlock time in its own words, but since October 23, 2026 the PlayStation Store listing shows one: midnight Eastern, midnight in London, and 11:00 UTC on November 18 in New Zealand. As of October 26, 2026, Rockstar has named no actor and published no install size and no PC version. A post announcing any of those three is not a rumour to weigh up. It is a fake.
Does Rockstar have a page for it?
Three addresses carry official information: the Newswire, the product pages, the PlayStation Store listing among them, and Rockstar Games Support. On May 14, 2026, Guru3D published a regional unlock schedule presented as revealed by Rockstar, with nothing on the Newswire that day or since, and its 7pm on November 18 for New Zealand clashes with the store listing, which shows 11:00 UTC, midnight there on the 19th. The only clock time Take-Two has ever published is the pre-load window opening on November 12, 2026, and the three rival schedules are in our release date guide.
Who is saying “confirmed”?
The most common slip does not come from a forum. It comes from the press. Rob Nelson, co-director of Rockstar North, gave the YouTuber TGG a rough comparison: three times the map of Red Dead Redemption 2. Kotaku ran it on August 27, 2026, and the next day Vice ran a headline crediting Rockstar with confirming the size of the leaked map, though the studio has never commented on the document circulated on August 18, 2026.
Is the proof a database anyone can edit?
Dylan Rourke has been named as the voice of Jason Duval for more than a year. The entire case for it is an IMDb credit, which reappeared on the listing for the Extended Look after August 27, 2026. SVG put it plainly on August 28, 2026: “IMDb is user-edited, and unlike Wikipedia, it doesn’t require any sort of sourcing or citations whatsoever. So this information on IMDb doesn’t mean much.” A casting agency profile falls under the same rule, and so does a community wiki entry.

Does it break a constant studio habit?
Rockstar does not credit its actors before release: 26 minutes and 48 seconds of Extended Look on August 27, 2026, no cast credits at the end. On August 28, Vice wrote that an account attributed to the actress Manni L. Perez is run by someone impersonating her, while EGW News ran a piece the same day headlined on an official confirmation that exists nowhere.
Does the claim survive its own arithmetic?
The May 2026 schedule falls apart with no outside source at all: 8am in the United Kingdom and 1pm in the United States for an unlock presented as a single worldwide moment, two clock readings that are not the same instant. The 113 gigabyte file passed around as a playable build holds up no better. The analyses relayed by Tom’s Hardware in August 2026 describe more than 99.99 percent zeroes wrapped around roughly 50 kilobytes of malware, padding whose only job is to make the size believable.

Six signals worth memorising
| Signal | The documented case | Why it settles it |
|---|---|---|
| “demo” or “beta” | gta6demo[.]asia, [.]eu and [.]us, logged by Malwarebytes, August 24, 2026 | No demo, no beta, no early access |
| An impossible file size | gta6_installer.exe, 1.1 megabytes, August 19, 2026 | The game does not fit in 1.1 MB |
| A domain imitating the brand | rockstar-gta-6[.]com is not rockstargames.com | Type the official address by hand |
| A storefront outside the four | Any site selling a key beyond the four named on June 24, 2026 | Only Take-Two’s list has an official document behind it |
| Invented edition contents | Digital Frontier gave the Ultimate a digital soundtrack, August 7, 2026 | The official list runs to 17 items, no soundtrack |
| A claim with no date | “recently”, “just now”, “the other day” | An undated claim cannot be checked |
Then there is the case where the file has already been opened. The installer spotted on August 19, 2026, the day after the first leak, is the Vidar credential stealer, which targets 19 browsers, among them Chrome, Edge and Firefox. Malwarebytes warns that removal is not the end of it: “An infostealer doesn’t need to remain on your computer to cause lasting damage”. Session cookies leave with the saved passwords, so those passwords have to change and every active session has to be signed out.
