Rockstar Games has announced GTA 6 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026. Seven dated ports, from GTA III in 2002 to Red Dead Redemption in 2024, are enough to estimate a PC range and to say where it breaks.
: Adds the next dated occasion for a word on PC: Take-Two reports its results on November 9, 2026, ten days before launch, and the ESRB rating page read again.
No PC version of GTA 6 has been announced: no date, no store page, no system requirements. GamesBeat reported on October 13, 2026, citing four anonymous sources, that Rockstar plans a PC release in the first three months of 2027. That would beat every one of Rockstar's seven dated PC ports, whose gaps applied to November 19, 2026 point to 2027 or 2028.
No PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI has been announced: no date, no window, no store page. Rockstar Games’ support page, updated on June 24, 2026, stops at two machines: “You can pre-order Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S”. On October 2, the official product page still listed the same two. On October 24, the rating page of the ESRB, the US age rating board, still read “PlayStation 5, Xbox Series”; GTA V’s page adds “Windows PC”.
What exists instead: seven Rockstar games reached PC after console.
| Game | Console release | PC release | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| GTA III | October 23, 2001 | May 21, 2002 | about 7 months |
| Vice City | October 29, 2002 | May 13, 2003 | about 6.5 months |
| San Andreas | October 26, 2004 | June 7, 2005 | about 7.5 months |
| GTA IV | April 29, 2008 | December 2, 2008 | 7 months and 3 days |
| GTA V | September 17, 2013 | April 14, 2015 | 18 months and 28 days |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | October 26, 2018 | November 5, 2019 | 12 months and 10 days |
| Red Dead Redemption | 2010 | October 2024 | 14 years |
PlayStation 2 dates are North American. Since GTA V, never in under a year.

What those gaps give from November 19, 2026
| Gap applied | Date it produces |
|---|---|
| GTA IV | June 22, 2027 |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | November 29, 2027 |
| GTA V | June 16, 2028 |
Our arithmetic, not announcements: the window runs from November 2027 to June 2028, with June 2027 as a theoretical floor. Reaching it would mean matching the pace of GTA IV on a game Rockstar described on August 26, 2026 with the words “from getting the game finished (nearly there!)”.
Red Dead Redemption forbids reading that window as a promise: its PC conversion landed in October 2024, fourteen years after console, according to Take-Two’s August 2026 investor presentation.
Zelnick answered about console, not about PC
Strauss Zelnick, chief executive of Take-Two, at a TD Cowen conference, as reported by TechRadar on May 5, 2026:
“Rockstar always starts on console because I think with regard to a release like that you’re judged by serving the core. Like really serving the core consumer.”
He ruled out a Sony exclusivity deal: “historically Rockstar’s gone to console first”, VGC reported the same day.
On PC, he has a number: “With regard to a big title, PC can be 45%, 50% of the sales”, against 5% when he joined the publisher in 2007, in Andy Chalk’s report for PC Gamer on May 4, 2026.
On its May 21, 2026 earnings call, Take-Two management said:
“Virtually all of our hit titles end up on all platforms over time. That said, Rockstar Games has announced GTA VI for console only so far.”
The next such call follows Take-Two’s second quarter results on Monday, November 9, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time: ten days before launch.
At Take-Two’s shareholder meeting, asked whether console shortages had changed the PC plan, Zelnick answered with the company’s general rule.
“The strategy of the company is, over time, generally speaking, to launch for any platforms for which there’s a meaningful audience. But that isn’t always the case, and certainly, if platforms were no longer viable, we could change that strategy. And I would note that the PC platform is becoming more and more important to our company over time.”
GamesRadar+ reported it, and IGN picked it up on September 17, 2026. The same day, he counted two machines: “We’re launching GTA 6 as a single player experience on two major platforms”, per Inven Global on September 18.
GamesBeat reports a PC release in early 2027
GamesBeat reported on October 13, 2026 that Rockstar plans to release the PC version “within the first three months of 2027”, citing “four industry sources familiar with the studio’s plans”, all anonymous. IGN relayed it; Rockstar did not respond. GamesBeat’s case for speed: FiveM, the roleplay framework from Cfx.re, which Rockstar bought in August 2023, runs only on the PC version of GTA V, home to “100 percent of GTA roleplaying activity”. Roleplay servers on GTA 6 would need a PC version first. January to March 2027 is 43 to 132 days after the consoles, shorter than any of the seven dated ports.
Andy Robinson, editor in chief of VGC, had heard the same “noise” on the September 4, 2026 episode of The Video Game Podcast:
“I do think they’ll push the PC version up. There is a bit of noise about that. That perhaps the PC version might arrive sooner than some people might expect.”
He hedged in the same breath, “Maybe we’ll be surprised”, and named no source. Gameblog tied his reasoning to hardware shortages, with cloud streaming as a way around them.
Xbox has closed that cloud route. The Verge reported on October 6, 2026 that Xbox Cloud Gaming, which also runs on PCs, would stream GTA 6 at launch, then corrected its story the same day after Matthew Ball, Xbox chief strategy officer, wrote on X:
“We are looking forward to launching GTAVI on XBOX November 19, though the game will not be streaming exclusively or to PC.”

An announced PC date is not a date that holds
Rockstar unveiled the GTA V PC version at E3 2014 to ship with the PS4 and Xbox One releases on November 18, 2014. It was then set for January 7, 2015, pushed to March 24, then to April 14: 147 days after the consoles.
The notice can be short. Take-Two and the Newswire announced Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC on October 4, 2019, for November 5: 32 days.
