GTA 6 physical edition is Standard only, and holds no disc
Grand Theft Auto VI reaches shelves on November 12, 2026 in a single box, priced $79.99 and holding a download code. Rockstar's support page rules out any physical Ultimate Edition, against the pre-order tables that still list one.

Rockstar Games sells no boxed version of the Grand Theft Auto VI Ultimate Edition. Its support page, updated on June 24, 2026, settles it in one sentence:
A physical version of the Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition is not available, but physical Standard Edition owners can purchase the Ultimate Edition Upgrade from the PlayStation or Microsoft stores after their Standard Edition code has been used.
The Standard Edition is the only one that comes in a box, at $79.99, shipping and reaching stores from November 12, 2026. In the United States, five chains took pre-orders on that single boxed item: Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, Target and GameStop, as listed by IGN’s Robert Anderson on June 25, 2026.
Pre-order comparison tables elsewhere still say otherwise. The French site gta6france.fr publishes a table that files the Ultimate under a physical column at Amazon, Fnac and Cultura. Rockstar’s page is the primary source. It says no.
What arrives in that box is a code, not a disc. The Rockstar Store spells it out on the purchase page: “Physical versions will only contain a download code inside the box to support pre-load on November 12. A disc will not be included in the box.” The code covers the game and the Vintage Vice City Pack, whose official contents run to three lines: “’55 Vapid Stanier Sedan and Garage”, “Outfits and Hairstyles”, “Exclusive Weapon Pattern”.
Starting from a box and ending up with the Ultimate content takes two purchases. Once the Standard code has been redeemed, Rockstar writes, the buyer can pick up the Ultimate Edition Upgrade on either store at any time. That module is listed at $20.00 on the US Microsoft Store, exactly the distance between the $79.99 Standard and the $99.99 Ultimate. The support page itself names no price for it, on any market.
Sensor Tower estimated on August 13, 2026 that 89 percent of pre-orders had gone to the $99.99 edition, against 11 percent for the Standard, a split reported by GamesIndustry.biz. That count reads the PlayStation and Xbox stores, so it measures nothing about how many buyers wanted a box. It does say that the edition taking almost nine pre-orders in ten is the one no shop can stock, along with the sixteen items it unlocks, from the Shitzu Squalo to the ’95 Grotti Cheetah.
