GTA 6 voice actors: Stephen Root says he is in the game

Rockstar Games has credited no actor for any character in Grand Theft Auto VI. The eight character pages of May 6, 2025 carry no credits, neither does the Take-Two release of the same day, and the 26 minutes and 48 seconds of “An Extended Look” that ran on August 27, 2026 ended without a cast roll. IGN asked for the list and was turned down on May 7, 2025: “Rockstar isn’t sharing its voice cast for GTA 6 just yet (we asked).”

Stephen Root says he is in it, and names no part

Asked by the Associated Press on September 13, 2026, at an event ahead of the Emmy Awards, Stephen Root said viewers will see him in the game: “Yeah, you’re going to see me in that.” He then explained why the guessing started so early: “I think from the first rollout of GTA that they were doing maybe almost a year ago, they had my character in there, and there are too many people who knew me from King of the Hill and my voice. I think that secret kind of got divulged then.”

Root named no character, and the coverage splits on what follows. GameRant, which transcribed the exchange on September 14, 2026, says the Brian Heder identification comes from its own desk and from Rockstar’s character pages, not from the actor. IGN, which started the Root lead in May 2025, treats it as settled: “We know this character to be Brian Heder.” Vice writes that Root “confirmed that he plays Brian”, while its own transcript carries that name nowhere. Collider’s subhead on September 20, “Stephen Root Is Playing Brian Heder in GTA 6”, rests on the voice: Brian’s gravelly delivery sounds like Buck Strickland, whom Root voices in King of the Hill.

Two more voices, and a reminder to keep quiet

Jim Santangeli, Simon Pearson in Red Dead Redemption 2, answered a viewer on a TikTok livestream on June 10, 2026 who asked whether he did a little something in the game: “Yeah, Zane. Little small bit.” He named no character and no scene.

Episode 141 of the GTAVIoclock podcast, reported by Insider Gaming on September 21, 2026, claims Rockstar Games wrote to everyone who recorded voice work for the game to remind them of their confidentiality agreement: “We would like to remind everyone to please remember your NDA. The date you may announce your involvement is still November 19th.” Insider Gaming prints it with no response from Rockstar, and the hosts offer only their long-standing ties to people at Rockstar North as backing.

Lucia: three outlets, three verdicts, one day

Manni L. Perez, who voiced a character in GTA Online’s Diamond Casino & Resort update in 2019, deleted her Instagram account on July 12, 2025 under a pile of comments demanding she confirm the role. On August 28, 2026, the same Instagram post gave three readings: an official confirmation for EGW News, speculation for SVG, and an impersonator’s fake account for Vice. On September 1, 2026, Perez reopened her account and thanked followers for reporting “those fake imposter AI accounts”, LADbible reported two days later. The post says nothing about Lucia. Rockstar Games now refers to the actress without naming her: in LOVE’s issue 27, out on October 5, 2026, writer Elizabeth Gauvey-Kern said that “the actress who plays Lucia brought a lot to the character” and that “with this actress, we knew we could create an incredible Grand Theft Auto protagonist,” Paul Tassi reported in Forbes the same day.

Rockstar has endorsed none of these attributions, and no actor on the list has said he or she plays the character beside their name. The first two rows give two names for the one Jason Duval role.

Three denials that keep circulating as confirmations

Troy Baker denied voicing Jason in January 2025 and pushed the credit back to whoever earned it: “I want that guy, whoever it is, to get credit for his work.” Roger Craig Smith, the voice of Sonic and of Ezio Auditore, posted “NOT my voice” on X. Ned Luke, Michael De Santa in GTA V, denied the rumour that handed him Tommy Vercetti. Roger Clark, Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2, is tied to no GTA 6 role by any source: Baker only cited him as an example inside his own denial.

The credits arrive on November 19, 2026, with the game, as they did for GTA V, where the names of Ned Luke and Shawn Fonteno broke at launch. Until then, spotting a fake leak works on casting as well as on anything else.
